START LIVING YOUR DREAM

When we were kids we all had dreams and believed that we could do anything, but somehow as we grow into adulthood, our dreams disappear and that thought of being able to achieve anything we want is lost.

However, there are these exceptional stories of people who became highly successful by simply having a dream and starting to work towards it. Whether you think of Mark Zuckerberg and how he created Facebook out of his dorm room at college or Steve Jobs who started Apple in his parent’s garage. These success stories are built on dreams and then starting to work towards that dream with everything we’ve got.

What is your big dream? Identify what is most important to you in your personal as well as professional life and then start the most exciting adventure anyone can ever take on in life by chasing the life of your dreams.

Sure, there is no one-size-fits-all solution to achieving your dream life, but when you choose to believe in yourself and your dream, there are things you can start doing today that will help you to start living your dreams.

#1 Get Honest
Yes, it can be scary to admit what really excites you and what you want out of life and your dream life may be completely out of your current comfort zone, but you have those dreams and goals for a reason. Take the time to dig deep and reflect on what it is that you really want, how your dream life looks like and where your passions lie and then honestly and openly say it out loud. It doesn’t matter how crazy it may sound right now, get honest and get real.

#2 Think in Possibilities
It’s important to remember that life is limitless. The moment you start to doubt that, you put restraints and boundaries on yourself and your abilities. It’s a common problem for a lot of people to limit their potential, either because they are scared or they don’t want to put in the hard work. But forget limitations, they only hold you back, think in possibilities and stop making excuses. Figure out what possibilities you want to achieve in your career, health, relationships, personal development and spiritual growth and then go out and do it. Show the world that it is possible to achieve what others thought was impossible.

#3 Take It One Day at a Time
When you start to live your dream life, start small. Don’t leave your comfort zone entirely in one big jump, but take it one step at a time and be consistent. Use all the resources available to you to successfully make the transition to living your dream, find a mentor, take a class, read a book, search the internet… There are so many tools available to help you get to where you want to be, use them and be patient because it will take some time to make your dream a reality.

#4 Stay Positive
We all know that creating the life of our dreams won’t magically happen over night. So be committed to it, be willing to work hard on it and most of all, stay positive. As with everything else in life, things can get tough, obstacles will appear and challenges will need to be overcome. But you have a dream and you want to make it a reality so put all your energy, time and effort into it and stay positive and optimistic even when you have a bad day. It will be so worth it in the end.

#5 Focus on Things You Can Control
A lot of people make the mistake to focus on the things they can’t control and get hung up on them, which ultimately leads them to give up on pursuing their dreams. In order to start living your dream and actually making progress on your journey to making your dream life a reality, you need to shift your focus on the things that you can control. Don’t waste your time and energy on things that are out of control, pretending that you have the ability to change them. Know what you can change and stay focused on that.

#6 Focus on People that Matter
Time is one of the most valuable resources we have so make sure that you spend it on things and people that are significant to you and that matter. Get your priorities straight and don’t waste valuable time on things and people that aren’t important and don’t help you get to where you want to be. Identify who and what matters the most to you and place your attention there so you can put all your time and energy into making your dream life a reality.

#7 Declutter
Most people don’t realize that happiness has nothing to do with that shiny new car or latest gadget that you absolutely had to have. True happiness comes from living the life of your dreams by doing what you love to do. A recent study showed that the one thing that is most positively correlated to happiness is engaging in experiences and activities that you enjoy. Whether that’s going on your dream vacation, attending a concert of your favorite band, making time for the gym or a yoga class, organizing fun outings with friends… It’s all about creating more experiences that enrich your life, so get rid of all the ‘stuff’ that is cluttering your life and get one step closer to living your dream.

#8 Learn to Be Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
Magic happens when you do things that scare you. While it may be a little bit of a cliché to believe that with great risk comes great reward, it is definitely a concept that you need to embrace if you want to make your dream life a reality. We all have a natural inclination to avoid things that are out of our comfort zone and scare us, but keep in mind, when you start to do the uncomfortable, you are doing what nobody else does and you will reach the greatest accomplishments when you start out from a place of discomfort.

#9 Be Prepared to Fail Before You Succeed
When you are committed to start living your dream, you won’t allow anyone or anything to stop you. Be so determined to make your dream life a reality that you are prepared to deal with failure before you make it in the end. Keep in mind, failure is a natural part of life and not the end of the journey. Learn how to pick yourself up when you fall, learn from the experience and move on stronger to reach your ultimate goal.

#10 Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
It is important to stay focused on your dream and making it a reality rather than comparing yourself and your achievements to others. If you really want to live your dream life, resist the temptation to compare yourself to other people. Remember, everybody has a different journey, we all start out from a different place and we all have different ways and resources to achieve our dreams. Rather than comparing yourself to others, look for people who can support you, because you will be able to achieve a lot more when you work as a team than you could doing it all by yourself.

Ultimately, life is all about doing what you love. It is absolutely possible to live your dream life, so stop existing and chase it with everything you’ve got so you can wake up every morning and experience the freedom and happiness in life that you deserve. Remember, even if you don’t succeed at your first attempt to live your dream life, you will learn and grow in a way that in the end you will not only make your dream life a reality, but you will also at the same time become a stronger, better, happier, more confident, more powerful and more courageous person.
